The proposed water infrastructure project represents both: A practical solution to ongoing water scarcity challenges A long-term community development initiative aimed at improving livelihoods and resilience NTEMI CROWN COMPANY LIMITED is currently in its developmental and investment phase and has not yet commenced significant revenue-generating operations. Since its establishment, the company has focused primarily on building a strong foundation for long-term sustainability through strategic investments in agriculture, livestock, tourism, and related infrastructure. The financial performance of the company to date is therefore best reflected through capital investments and asset accumulation rather than operational income. The founder has made substantial personal investments into the business, including the acquisition of land, development of farming infrastructure, livestock projects, establishment of passion fruit farming, and preparation for future hospitality and tourism ventures. Key investments undertaken include: • Purchase and development of approximately ten acres of agricultural land in Yombo Lukinga Village, Kisarawe District. • Construction and preparation of livestock facilities for pig rearing and cattle fattening activities. • Ongoing development of tourism and hospitality infrastructure, including purchase of a four acres hillside land for guest cottages and farm-based tourism activities. • Acquisition of farming and operational assets aimed at strengthening future production capacity and operational efficiency. • Construction of a building at Kwa Vichuzi Bus stop as the central base for the company projects. At present, the company’s financial position is characterized by: • High capital expenditure during the start-up and expansion phase. • Limited or no recurring operational revenue streams. • Strong founder-driven financing and reinvestment into long-term productive assets. • Growing asset base with increasing future income potential. • Continued focus on infrastructure development and agricultural productivity. Although the company is not yet generating substantial revenues, these investments demonstrate a clear commitment toward establishing a diversified and sustainable rural enterprise capable of creating long-term economic and social impact within the community. The current phase should therefore be viewed as an incubation and growth stage, where resources are being directed toward asset creation, operational readiness, and future revenue generation. With the expected commencement of agricultural harvesting, livestock expansion, tourism activities, and related agribusiness operations, NTEMI CROWN COMPANY LIMITED is strategically positioned to transition into revenue generation and long-term financial sustainability in the coming years. Yombo Lukinga Village is a rural community whose residents largely depend on agriculture and livestock keeping for their livelihoods. Most households rely heavily on seasonal rainfall as their primary source of water for domestic use, farming, and livestock production. During the dry season, water sources become scarce and unreliable, creating severe hardship for families and threatening both food security and income generation. The lack of a sustainable and reliable water supply has significantly affected the social and economic wellbeing of the community. Farmers struggle to maintain crop production, while livestock keepers face shortages of water for their animals, leading to reduced productivity and increased poverty. Studies conducted in Kisarawe District show that water scarcity contributes to environmental degradation, reduced agricultural output, conflicts over water access, and increased vulnerability among rural households. Due to the absence of dependable water infrastructure, many villagers are forced to seek alternative means of survival during prolonged dry periods. This has led some community members to engage in environmentally destructive activities such as charcoal production and poaching as a way to generate income and sustain their families. Research in Kisarawe District has linked poverty, drought, and limited livelihood opportunities to increased charcoal production and forest degradation. The growing pressure on natural resources threatens local forests, biodiversity, and the long-term sustainability of the environment surrounding Yombo Lukinga village. At the same time, women and children are disproportionately affected, as they spend long hours searching for water, reducing time available for education, childcare, and productive economic activities. Despite these challenges, the community has demonstrated strong commitment to development initiatives through active participation in local projects and collective action. Establishing a reliable water project in Yombo Lukinga village would therefore not only improve access to safe and sufficient water, but also strengthen agriculture and livestock production, reduce poverty, protect the environment, discourage illegal and destructive activities, pave way for employment through tourism industry and improve the overall quality of life for the community.
