Executive Summary

MiyirKaab Recovery and Rehabilitation Center is the first and only licensed facility in Somaliland providing mental health and addiction treatment services. We offer community-based, culturally adapted care to individuals affected by substance use, trauma, and mental illness—especially those struggling with Qat addiction and severe substance use among returnees. Our mission is to expand access to gender-responsive care by building the first women’s rehabilitation center in the country, addressing a critical gap where no such services currently exist. With a vision to serve beyond borders, we aim to establish a regional mental health and addiction hub based in Somaliland to support underserved communities across East Africa, including Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Through a combination of direct care, mobile outreach, research, and advocacy, MiyirKaab is uniquely positioned to lead scalable, high-impact solutions in a region where demand is urgent and services are scarce. We are seeking to raise $1–5 million through grant funding, equity investment, or blended finance to build a women’s rehabilitation center in Somaliland, expand mental health services, and develop a regional hub serving East Africa. Our mission is to expand access to inclusive, gender-responsive rehabilitation and mental health care, with a special focus on women, who currently have no dedicated facility for treatment in Somaliland. In addition to residential and outpatient care, we offer public education, research, and advocacy to reduce stigma and build national capacity. We are now seeking investment to build the first women’s rehabilitation center in Somaliland, expand our services, and establish a regional headquarters that can serve countries across East Africa, including Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya—where similar gaps persist.
