Executive Summary
Covenant Kingdom Farm was conceived from a deep personal conviction and entrepreneurial ambition to participate meaningfully in Malawi's agricultural value chain. Founded five years ago by Lumbani Sichinga a hands-on, passionate agrarian leader CKF has progressively expanded its footprint from a modest subsistence operation into a commercially viable, market-integrated agribusiness. The farm operates in two strategically selected production sites in Dunduzu and Katope in Mzimba North locations chosen for their agro ecological suitability, proximity to Mzuzu City's commercial markets, and availability of land for future expansion. Over the course of five years, CKF has successfully navigated the challenges of early-stage agribusiness development, including access to inputs, market linkages, climate variability, and limited working capital. CKF is formally requesting development funding to execute the 2026–2028 Integrated Agricultural Expansion Programme. The requested investment of USD 500,000 -1,000,000 will be deployed within infrastructure expansion, livestock and crop scale up, equipment procurement, working capital and marketing Lumbani Sichinga is the visionary behind Covenant Kingdom Farm — an entrepreneur who has built the business from the ground up over five years through personal commitment, industry knowledge, and an unwavering passion for agricultural development. As Managing Director, Sichinga oversees all aspects of the farm's strategic direction, operations management, market engagement, and financial oversight. Sichinga's leadership philosophy is rooted in the conviction that smallholder agribusiness, when properly capitalized and commercially oriented, can become a transformative force in rural economic development. This belief has driven CKF's continuous improvement and its ambition for the 2025–2028 expansion plan. • Managing Director/Farm Manager — Lumbani Sichinga (Strategic oversight, market development) • Farm Supervisor — Permanent Employee (Day-to-day operational management) • Production Assistant — Permanent Employee (Livestock and crop care) • 5 Casual Labourers (Seasonal and demand-based field work) The farm is generally performing well financially, expected to boost its crop and livestock production to a large scale. we are advancing in terms of production with different varieties we are growing such as Tomato Trinity F1 and Kilimo F1 cabbage. The market is available in Mzuzu, Nkhatabay and Rumphi Districts. we are also working hard to penetrate other districts including supermarkets and hotels. CKF will pursue a tiered customer acquisition strategy targeting quick-win buyers and building long-term institutional contracts through year 2 and 3. for example: the farm is planting 15,000 cabbages and tomatoes expecting a revenue of 14,353.25 USD in year one Malawi's agricultural sector accounts for approximately 30% of GDP and over 80% of export earnings, with food production at the heart of both national economic stability and household food security. Within this macro-framework, the Northern Region and Mzuzu City specifically represent one of the country's most dynamic and underserved agricultural markets. CKF operates at the epicenter of a demand surge driven by three compounding megatrends: rapid urbanization, income growth, and the expansion of commercial food service and retail infrastructure. Each of these trends creates a growing, monetized enthusiasm for the exact products CKF produces.
