My name is mugyenyi fred Am the founder of masizi farmers association. I fond this project because there was alot of challenges with in the community e.g lack of food,poverty and poor methods of farming., As founder of project i have many roles 1. vision and conception i.e identifying the common problems like low crop yields,pests in the garden that farmers cannot solve alone. 2.community mobolisation.I recruits early members,raises awareness about the benefit of working together and build initial trust within the local farming community. 3.Establishing structure. I help nmembers drafting the groups rules ,objectives and guiding principles. 4.Transition to leadership: moves the group from founder- led initiative to self-sustaining. 5. Resource and partner linkage-I connect the to external entities,such as agricultural extension officers,local government programme,NGOS ,or input suppliers.
Company Overview
Masizi farmers association is amixed farming enterprises promoting livestock farming activities[ poultry,piggery production,goat keeping and coffee growing . The project farm is located in kanungu district western part of uganda near Bwindi impenetrable national park. The project has three live stock sections [ i.e the poultry section,piggery section and goat keeping section. we get organic manure from our animals to use in our coffee plantion which is about 3 acres of land and more coffee seedlings are being planted since we still have land for expansion.. currently we face alot of challanges with in the community because of being located in remote areas like; -lack of skills and knowldge e.g what,when and how to grow. -lack of information and sharing and use - lack of research back up -Gender inequality - little advocacy in sustainable commercial agriculture. -Few market opportunities - lack of access to credit facilities - lack of input supply and poor availability resources. other problems of the community that are closely associated with lack of know-how in the adoption and up take of sustainable commercial agriculture include but not limited to; .The problem of massive youth unemployment. .The problem of trasforming and harnessing unskilled and sem-skilled youth in the district into core productivity population segment with the skills and know how to practice commercial agriculture profitability and sustainability. . we have tourist centers with in the community that are growing in size and volume in terms of tourists arrivals and tourism revenue reciepts but lack of organised and sustainable food input supply. masizi farmers association will use the following strategies to address the se constraints to solve the ealier problem statement with rural communities in kanungu district as target: -capacity building for sustainable agriculture - capacity building for production techniques. -setting up ademostration for production /training center for farmers at the farm. - providing /disseminating enhanced livestock[ poultry ,piggery and goat rearing] productivity inputs for commercial farming to the farmers. -commercial farming. our main aim of masizi farmers association is eradicate poverty with in the community.
