I serve as the primary representative and operations coordinator for our family-owned agricultural farm located in Burco. Although the farm is managed on-site by my uncle, I am responsible for handling its external relations, business development, procurement, and communication with partners, suppliers, and potential investors. My role involves supporting the farm in all city-based activities where access to markets, suppliers, and opportunities is essential. I conduct research on agricultural equipment, seeds, tools, and new technologies that could benefit the farm’s productivity. I also manage communication with organizations, investors, and government or private entities that provide support, funding, or partnership opportunities. In addition to procurement and opportunity-seeking, I assist in planning growth strategies for the farm. This includes budgeting needs, identifying potential expansion areas, outlining operational improvements, and helping streamline the flow of information between the farm and external stakeholders. I am also involved in presenting our farm’s development vision to investors and preparing documentation required for funding or partnership applications. My objective is to help transform the farm into a more efficient, sustainable, and scalable agricultural business by connecting it with the right resources, technologies, and investment opportunities. I work closely with my uncle to optimize daily operations, enhance operational resilience, and position the farm for long-term growth within Somaliland’s agricultural sector.

Our agricultural farm is a 69-hectare, privately owned property located near Burco in Somaliland. The land is strategically positioned in an area with suitable climate and soil conditions for diversified farming activities. The farm is equipped with a reliable water source and powered by a solar energy system, ensuring consistent irrigation and operational sustainability throughout the year. The entire property is secured with a perimeter gate and boundary fencing, providing safety for assets, workers, and equipment. The vision of the farm is to become a leading agricultural producer that contributes to food security, employment, and sustainable development within the region. Agriculture remains one of the most essential sectors in Somaliland, yet large-scale, well-structured farms are still limited. Our farm aims to fill this gap by operating with a mix of traditional knowledge and modern agricultural methods. We are working toward expanding our operations through improved irrigation systems, better mechanization, and the introduction of high-yield crops and modern farming techniques. With adequate investment, the farm has the potential to scale significantly — increasing production capacity, diversifying crop varieties, and establishing more efficient supply chains that connect directly with local and regional markets. Our farm is currently involved in the production of essential crops suited for the climatic conditions of the Burco region. With additional funding, we plan to expand into higher-value crops, greenhouse production, livestock integration, and potentially agro-processing in the future. These developments would increase the economic value of the farm and create stable employment opportunities for the surrounding community.
