Executive Summary
Agri & Autolec is a new automotive and agricultural electrical diagnostics and repair business being established in Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal. The business will provide specialist diagnostics, electrical fault-finding, repairs and related parts support for private vehicles, agricultural machinery and commercial customers through both a workshop and mobile field-service model. The opportunity is built on existing industry experience, technical capability and an established network of approximately 100 potential and repeat customers. Our location provides access to a strong agricultural and commercial customer base, with an intended service radius of approximately 150 km. We are seeking approximately R500,000 in startup capital to fund specialist diagnostic and workshop equipment, tools, initial stock, workshop setup and working capital. Our financial plan targets growth toward approximately R400,000 in monthly revenue, with expansion driven by recurring agricultural, fleet, commercial and private customer work. Our objective is to build a profitable, professionally managed business with strong financial controls, dependable customer service and the capacity to create up to eight employment opportunities as operations grow. Agri & Autolec is seeking R500,000 (approx. US$30,000) in pre-seed equity investment. Funds will finance diagnostic equipment, specialist tools, initial stock, workshop setup and working capital. Equity terms and valuation are open to negotiation with the investor. Agri & Autolec is founder-led by Engela Venter, who is responsible for business strategy, financial management, administration, funding, customer and supplier relationships, business development and overall operational management. The business combines this management capability with approximately 10 years of technical industry experience in automotive and agricultural electrical work. This provides Agri & Autolec with practical knowledge of diagnostics, electrical fault-finding, repairs, customer requirements and the operational realities of serving automotive and agricultural customers. The founding team also brings approximately two years of direct business operating experience and has previously worked with a team of approximately eight staff. This provides practical experience in managing employees, customers, purchasing, stock, workflow and day-to-day business operations. The team's key advantage is that Agri & Autolec is a new venture, but the people behind it are not entering an unfamiliar industry. The business is being built using existing technical knowledge, operational experience and customer relationships, while introducing stronger financial controls and a disciplined approach to growth. Agri & Autolec is currently at pre-revenue/startup stage and therefore does not yet have historical trading revenue or profitability under the new entity. A 12-month financial model has been prepared to demonstrate the planned path from startup to sustainable operations. Under the current base-case assumptions, the business is targeting approximately R4.2 million in first-year revenue, with monthly revenue growing progressively as the customer base and workshop capacity develop. The model targets monthly revenue of approximately R400,000 by around month eight and estimates operating break-even at approximately R300,000 in monthly revenue. The current base case projects positive EBITDA of approximately R338,000 for the first 12 months. These figures are financial projections rather than historical results and depend on successful funding, customer conversion, gross margins, operating costs and the timing of the business launch. The R500,000 capital raise is intended to provide the equipment, initial stock, workshop setup and working capital required to execute this plan. Management intends to maintain disciplined cash-flow management, stock control, cost monitoring and monthly performance reporting from commencement of operations. Agri & Autolec will operate in the automotive and agricultural electrical repair and diagnostics market in Pongola, northern KwaZulu-Natal and surrounding areas. The region has a strong agricultural economy alongside private motorists, transport operators, commercial businesses and fleet customers that depend on reliable vehicles, tractors and agricultural equipment. Electrical and electronic systems in modern vehicles and agricultural machinery are increasingly sophisticated, creating demand for accurate diagnostics, specialist fault-finding and properly equipped technicians. For agricultural and commercial customers in particular, equipment downtime can result in lost productivity and income, making responsive repair and mobile field-service capability valuable. Agri & Autolec intends to serve customers within approximately a 150 km radius of Pongola through a combination of workshop-based services and mobile field support. Target customers include farmers, agricultural enterprises, fleet and transport operators, commercial businesses and private motorists. The business enters the market with an existing network of approximately 100 potential and repeat customers developed through previous industry activity. This provides an initial customer base from which the new company can develop recurring workshop, agricultural and commercial relationships. Our competitive positioning will be based on specialist automotive and agricultural electrical capability, diagnostic equipment, responsive mobile support, dependable workmanship and the ability to service multiple customer segments from one operation. Growth will initially focus on establishing the Pongola operation, converting existing relationships into customers, securing recurring agricultural and fleet work and expanding the mobile service offering. Longer-term expansion will be considered once the initial operation has demonstrated sustainable profitability and demand.
